One of my favorite Christmas traditions, is that every year the children and I make a new plate for Santa’s cookies. Some day I will have a full set of Christmas plates – filled with so many memories! Here are our plates from years past
It started in 2005 when I just had one little six month old! Since then we’ve got a collection of hand/thumb/footprints and as the kids have gotten older, they are painting onto the plates themselves. In a couple of years they can paint the plate all on their own, and I’m sure we’ll get some interesting, fun, and creative new plates!
This year I painted four ornaments onto a plate and let each of the children decorate one
There’s a running joke between my kids… except I didn’t realize it until this year. The girls always get into the Painted Pig store and see all the unpainted ornaments and ask whether they can make one. And every year I say, “no, we just need to make this plate and get out of here – we’ve got a million things to do, the boys will get cranky, we’ve got too many ornaments, etc. etc.” And every year I totally change my mind and let them make ornaments anyway

Our tree is filled with hand-painted pottery ornaments, and I really do love them. Look at these sweet little baby feet from two month old baby Wyatt two years ago.
